Pudsey Judo Club Juniors travelled to SKK Judo Club today.
For some it was their first ever competition for others a first this year.
Super proud as 8 judoka went and 8 came back with a medal - but more importantly valuable lessons learnt.

Many of you wonโt know that Sensei Llewellin has begun a journey to learn Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) and entered a competition today. Despite being a beginner and having not competed in judo for about 40 years, he had to fight in a more experienced division, so a huge challenge. He also fought in a group aged nearly 20 years younger than him! He had a some tough fights and learned lots but had a great timeโฆ hereโs a short clip that shows his judo is still sharp ๐๐ฅbonus points if you name the throw

After weighing in at 8.30 & 10 this morning, Jole & Noah had a long wait until they got to fight.
Jole was first up, first win in 14 seconds, 2nd went to time but he was a wazari up & showed great tactics to see the contest out & claim gold.
Noah had a tough group of experienced competitors and after losing his first contest early on, he came out with renewed vigour for his 2nd fight but was unfortunately unable to record a score in normal time and had to settle for bronze.
Sophie was our only senior representative this year and after some shuffling of groups, came up against higher graded

As teams go, ours is the very best! Our army of Power Red HWJC volunteers were simply amazing today at our Red Belt Rumble. From Refereeing, Officialing and Coaching to taking spectator fees, delivering refreshments and presenting medals. A huge thank you everyone for pulling together and contributing to another successful event
