Shudan Judo does the Waendel Walk!
What a day! Something off the judo mats: our member's have been out and about the Wellingborough countryside today, taking part in the 43rd International Waendel Walk raising sponsorship money for the club.
The Waendal Walk attracts walkers from all over the world and includes routes of varying lengths, from 5km to 42km.
The Shudan team chose the 10km route.
The weather was great, the company was better, and the tactical placement of an ice-cream van just past the half way point was best of all!

First up, Yvonne and Caitlin unfortunately drawn in the same group as the only 2 lighter females. First event for Yvonne against a seasoned opponent, but she was tenacious and strong against Caitlin. McBride had to dig deep into her techniques, and managed to pip Yvonne twice.

Next up of our seniors…. Monty!
Monty joined us at the end of 2023 (literally the last session of the year!) but has quickly become a regular member of the club joining extra sessions, circuits alongside our regular training times.
Monty is keen to learn and has an interest in judo and its background as well as studying the techniques he’s learning. We took Monty up to Glasgow to enter his first competition (a 5 mat area event with players from across Scotland and England) where he smashed it, winning a bronze medal and experiencing a re-fight after three players in his group ended on the

As the season starts to come to a close the games start up for the kids class! Foot sweep circle is a great way to work on sweeps and grips among other things.

On the 9th of June seven of our coaches and senior members will be running the Roon The Toon 10K in Kilmarnock to raise money for The Ayrshire Hospice. Any donations will be greatly appreciated by this amazing local charity who provide support to people at what can be a very difficult time.
Last year it cost £7.9 million to run all the hospices services with over £4.6 million of this raised by voluntary donations.
